Socio-Economic services

From the very beginning, N.C.R.C has integrated economic and social trainings to its activities because financial support only is not enough to develop a business and maintain a family well-being.

BUSINESS TRAININGS

Most of the time, our members have never worked or managed a business before. For this reason, we proceed in 3 steps to teach them how to be an autonomous and successfull entrepreneur.

ü    General Training: this training provides the members with a general overview regarding how to find a good location, with products are interesting to sell, how to deal with customers and stock providers...
ü    Specific Business Training
o        capital maintenance: how to keep your business capital growing and how to avoid dilapidating it with unwise investments
o        profit calculation: how to generate a maximum profit with your products and give them the best possible quality/price ratio.
o        price determination: how to fix the right price for the right product?
o        stock management: how to find the right balance between having enough stock to satisfy customers and avoid excessive stock which could endanger your capital and profit?
ü    Business Consultancy and Follow-Up: for established entrepreneurs, case by case follow-up, regarding to members'need.
Moreover, members can come to the branch office from 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. and can discuss their problems with the Branch Managers.

BUSINESS NETWORKING

Running small businesses, most of our members were facing problems in growing and expanding them due to the shortage of fund, lack of skill, poor market accessibility and intermediaries. Thus, N.C.R.C has started the Business Network Service in August 2010. This service is provided in two steps: conducting network meetings & maintaining a network register. With this service, the different business intermediaries can exchange on market prices, stock availability or labour requirement...

LIVELIHOOD TRAININGS

The diversity and quality of our members represents a great resource in terms of personal and profesional skills. In order to develop every member's knowledge, we have proposed to our skilled members to share their experience and become trainers during livelihood trainings. Along with social recognition, the trainer is also financially retributed by the participating members who have decided to follow her training.

HEALTH AWARENESS MEETING

Most of our members reside in unhygienic slums and lack hygiene education. Thus, NCRC provides basic health awareness through different group trainings regarding safe drinking water, hepatitis, Diarrhoea, Hypertension, Diabetes. We use training tools as games, story-telling.

SIGNATURE TRAINING

As many of our members are illiterate, we propose them 2 solutions to sign their contract:sign it with their fingerprints learn how to write their name and sign in Bengali or in English in order to instil self-respect, dignity and confidence.

SOCIAL MEETING
In order to prevent several professionnal and/or personal crisis among our members, we conduct group meetings regularly. Various social issues as over-indebtedness, group solidarity, importance of savings and business motivation are discussed with the help of attractive modules and peer group discussion. Indeed, we believe that if microcredit is a powerful tool against poverty, it needs a real economic and social follow-up on a long-term basis to be performant and sustainable.

FAMILY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

As social meetings and awareness tools are not sufficient to help members to build long term autonomy and well-being, N.C.R.C has launched the Family Development Program (FDP) in May 2010, for those affected by serious social issues as children drop-out school situation, family member drinking problem, domestic violence, child marriage, dowry...

To benefit from this service, 2 possibilities are presented to the member:

- the member decides to contact directly our branch to meet one of our social worker
- as our Collector Motivators are weekly in contact with our members, they can recommand to our Social Worker to organize a visit at the member's house and discuss the situation.

Although, even if the member's decision to follow or not the program will be   generally respected, in case of abuse or danger for a member or his family, we can carry out referrals to the designated institution.
